Lt Col D C G Dickinson
Commanded the I T C at Guildford from October 1940 to August 1941 and No.13 I T C at Maidstone from September 1941 to 11th December 1942
David Charles Gilbert Dickinson was born on 16th June 1899 and educated at the RMC Sandhurst. He was commissioned in The Queen's Royal Regiment in April 1918 and served in France and Belgium. After the 1914-18 War he served with the 1st and 2nd Battalions in UK, Hong Kong and Malta.
In 1938 he was posted to 7th (Southwark) Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment (TA; as adjutant. In 1939, on the doubling of the Territorial Army, he became adjutant of the 1/7th Battalion and served in France in 1940.
In October 1940 he was appointed to command the I T C at Guildford.
In August 1941 the I T C was amalgamated with that of The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment to form No.13 I T C at Maidstone and Colonel Dickinson continued in command until 11th December 1942 when he died from acute appendicitis.
He was a brilliant pianist and also could play practically any brass or wind instrument.
