The Home Guard

Ex Royal Marine Don Partridge recalls his Home Guard service:-

Private D Partridge.
Private D Partridge.

I lied about my age to join the Home Guard!

I served from 1942 to 1944. I joined the Home Guard at Woking (where I then lived).

I attended every course available and I was to put it mildly 'Ary Barmy'! However in 1944 I joined the Royal Marines and served in the Far East on Landing Craft Infantry aboard HMS Sefton.

Looking back I learnt a lot during my Home Guard days.
