Regiment embarked for service on the Channel Fleet.

Battle of the Glorious First of June.

Regiment disembarked for service in the West Indies. Remains until 1797.

Second battalion raised. Serves in England and in Guernsey.

Regiment serves with Abercrombie’s expedition against Napoleon in Egypt.

Alexandria. First battle honour awarded contemporaneously – the Sphinx, superscribed “Egypt” (6th July 1802).
