1742-1748: War of the Austrian Succession

 

A cartouche shows the reversed monogram of George II with the Hanoverian crown over.
The flintlock musket was now known by its nickname “Brown Bess” and is draped with a Sergeant’s and Officer’s sash.
Left; A Private’s hat and hanger and on the right an Officer’s hat and sword, now with a gold and crimson knot.

	Handasyde’s Regiment

1743
	Handasyde’s Regiment
27th June	Battle of Dettingen. King George II gives the Regiment the nick-name “Young Buffs”.

 

1745
	Beauclerk’s Regiment
2nd April	Handasyde’s Regiment renamed Beauclerk’s.
11th May	Battle of Fontenoy.

 

1747
	Beauclerk’s Regiment
	England.
