Lieutentant Colonel H G M EvansCommanded 1st Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment from September- 1940 to September 1943.

Harold George Muir Evans was born on 24th October 1898. He was commissioned in The Queen's Royal Regiment in May 1917 and served with the Regiment for the remainder of the Great War and was awarded the Italian War Cross. He was with the 1st Battalion in Ireland and was appointed adjutant of the 4th Battalion from 1926 to 1929.

He then joined the 2nd Battalion in England and in 1934 rejoined the 1st Battalion in China and was with the Battalion at the time of the earthquake at Quetta.

In September 1940 he was appointed to command the Battalion and on completion of his tour in September 1943 was appointed to the Staff.

He was a fine athlete winning the Army 100 yards and 220 yards for several years in succession. He retired from the Army on 22nd March 1946.
