Commanding Officer - The East Surrey Regiment

Lt Col F O VoisinCommanded 1/6th Bn The East Surrey Regiment from December 1939 to April 1940. Previously he had commanded the I T C at Kingston.

Francis Ogier Voisin was born on 21st June 1894 and was educated at Victoria College. He was commissioned in the Royal Militia of the Island of Jersey in 1912 and transferred to The East Surrey Regiment on 14th August 1914. In the 1914-18 War he served in Salonika and on the Western Front. After the War he was seconded for duty as adjutant of the Royal Jersey Light Infantry. From 1923 to 1926 he was adjutant of 2nd Bn The East Surrey Regiment. He then served with the 1st Battalion in India and Khartoum. He retired from the Army in May 1939 to look after his family's business in Jersey. On the outbreak of World War II he was recalled from Reserve and commanded the I T C at Kingston from September to December 1939 when he took command of the 1/6th Battalion. In April 1940 he was posted to another appointment and was finally released from the Army on 16th August 1945.

He died on 15th January 1962.
