Africa Star

BATTLE HONOURS

The East Surrey Regiment was awarded ten Battle Honours for its part in the North African Campaign.

Tebourba, Fort MacGregor, OUED ZARGA, Djebel Ang,
Djebel Djaffa Pass, Medjez Plain, LONGSTOP HILL 1943,
Tunis, Montarnaud, NORTH AFRICA 1942-43.

The Honours in capital letters were borne on the Sovereign's Colour of The East Surrey Regiment.

Tebourba, Long Stop Hill 1943 and North Africa 1942-43 are today (2010) borne on the Queen's Colour of The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment.

The Africa Star

 

Awards to members of the two battalions were:-
1 Distinguished Service Order, 7 Military Crosses, 3 Distinguished Conduct Medals, 15 Military Medals and 14 Mentions-in-Despatches.
