Connaught Cemetery and Mill Road Cemetery, Dover

 

2/7th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment Graves
The battalion moved from Faversham on the 23rd February 1941 to Hythe and took over part of the old Small Arms School and Turnpike Camp. The following day the battalion suffered a grievous loss with the deaths of ten men killed outright and five men seriously injured, two of them subsequently died. A Royal Engineer Sergeant was leading the men through a minefield near Hythe when the tragedy occurred.

The men are buried in Mill Road and Connaught Cemeteries in Dover. Four, who had been buried in a church near Dover Castle were re-interred in Shorncliffe Garrison Cemetery when the Dover Church and grounds were demolished in the late 1970s.
