the foothills of Mount Ophir. BHQ, Support and HQ Companies
were based at Tampin. A forward Tac HQ was established at
Muar. Further moves took place in Johore during 1954 and 1955. |

General
Sir George Giffard GCB, DSO completed his tenure of office
as Colonel of the Regiment. He was succeeded by Maj Gen J
Y Whitfield CB, DSO, OBE who had commanded 2/5th Queen's at
Monte Camino and was GOC 56 (London) Division in the latter
stages of the Italian campaign. He was to be the last Colonel
of The Queen's Royal Regiment. |
