Death of HM Queen Mary, Colonel-in-Chief, The Queen's Royal Regiment.

Re-opened for recruit training, Stoughton Barracks Guildford.
  Home Guard
6th and 10th (Surrey) Battalions re-raised at Cadre strength.

1954

Embarks for Malaya on HMT Georgic.
13th February
Disembarks Singapore - Selerang Barracks, the Kota Tinngi for Jungle training.
March
Battalion deploy into Johore. A & B Companies to Rompin. B Company then Bahau. C Company South Johol, D Company Ayer Tekah in the foothills of Mount Ophir. BHQ, Support and HQ Companies were based at Tampin. A forward Tac HQ was established at Muar. Further moves took place in Johore during 1954 and 1955.
28 September
General Sir George Giffard GCB, DSO completed his tenure of office as Colonel of the Regiment. He was succeeded by Maj Gen J Y Whitfield CB, DSO, OBE who had commanded 2/5th Queen's at Monte Camino and was GOC 56 (London) Division in the latter stages of the Italian campaign. He was to be the last Colonel of The Queen's Royal Regiment.

  Redesignated as Q (4th Queen’s) Battery 565 LAA Regiment RA.
  622 HAA Regiment

Amalganated with 570 Searchlight Regiment (1st Surrey Rifles) as R and S Batteries 570 HAA Regiment.

 

1956

Operations in Malaya, and internal security duties during Singapore Riots.

 

1957
  The Queen’s Royal Regiment (West Surrey)
  1st Battalion
14th February
Battalion relieved from jungle operations.
2nd March
Battalion embarked on HMT Empire Orwell. Because of Suez Crisis returns to UK via the Cape. Leave in the UK. Reformed at Mons Barracks, Iserlohn, West Germany.

 

1958

One company joins 1st Surreys in Cyprus, who were on an emergency tour.
  Home Guard
6th and 10th (Surrey) Battalions disbanded.

Moves to Bury St Edmunds.
14th October
