  Royalist Regiments   Protectorate Regiments
  Farrell's Irish regiment, in Spanish service since 1585, joins Charles II outside Dunkirk.
  Lillingstone's, Alsop's and Reynold's Regiments among six raised by Cromwell for service in alliance with France against the Spanish in the Low Countries. Moves to Dunkirk.
  Fitzgerald's Irish Regiment, raised in 1653, joins Charles II.

Farrell’s and Fitzgerald’s Regiments remain with rump of Royalist Army in exile.
  Lillingstone’s, Alsop’s and Reynolds’s Regiments in garrison of Dunkirk – now an English possession.
