He
had served on the expedition to Copenhagen in 1807, and afterwards
in the Peninsular from June 1811 to the end of the war in 1814.
He took part in the battles of Badajoz, Salamanca, Vittoria, The
Pyrenees and Nivelle.
It was in General Paty’s term of office that the 70th Regiment
were involved in the Indian Mutiny, being stationed at Peshawar
at the time. They took part in the disarmament of native Regiments
which, by a subterfuge, was effected without bloodshed. General
Paty died in 1868. |
