Colonel The Lord John Billasye 1665 - 1666 (Bellasyse or Bellasise)

Colonel, to be Captain of a Company of Foot, raised for service in the Garrison at Tangier, 25th February 1665; he retired on 14th June, 1666.

An energetic Governor who was a Roman Catholic. He resigned on grounds of religious conscience, being unable to accept the Act of Uniformity (of worship).
