Brigadier P C HindeCommanded 2/5th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment from December 1944 to May 1945.

Peter Chambre Hinde was born on 18th August 1913.

He was commissioned in The Essex Regiment from the Supplementary Reserve in August 1934. as an adjutant from December 1939 to July 1940. From July 1942 to December 1942 he was a Brigade Major and from August 1943 to December 1943 was GSO II.

In December 1944 he was appointed to command 2/5th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment. In May 1945 he was wounded as a result of his vehicle being blown up on a mine. He was awarded the DSO in August 1945 for his fine leadership of the Battalion and was Mentioned in Despatches in November 1945.

From July 1945 to March 1946 he was GSO I at the Staff College, Sandhurst and from March 1946 to July 1947 GSO II at the Staff College, Camberley. He also commanded 9th Bn The Parachute Regiment (affiliated to The Queen's Royal Regiment) prior to its amalgamation with 8th Para. After this he held various staff appointments including BGS (Int) HQ BAOR in 1962.

He was a graduate of the Staff College and the Joint Services Staff College.

He retired from the Army on 31st May 1968.
