Colonel J B AndrasCommanded 6th Bn The East Surrey Regiment from 1st January 1932 to 31st December 1935

John Bertram Andras was educated at St Paul's School and Cambridge University.

After serving in The Inns of Court Regiment he was commissioned in 6th Bn The East Surrey Regiment on 23rd July 1914. In October 1914 he sailed to India with the 1/6th Battalion with whom he served in India and Aden. From January 1917 to January 1918 he was Brigade Signals Officer and in April was appointed adjutant of the 1/6th Battalion. He disembarked in UK in November 1919 and rejoined the 6th Battalion on its reformation in 1920.

After serving successively as company commander, Richmond detachment commander and second-in-command he was appointed to command the Battalion on 1st January 1932. On completing his tour of command on 31st December 193~he was promoted Brevet Colonel.

He died on 23rd October 1976.
